Learning theories in daily life
February 2, 2009
I should spend one day thinking about learning theories. How I use them in daily life, e.g. how the influence my learning and my day.
Actually I have to say, that when I remember my school time y, I mostly got confronted with more or less behaviouristic teaching methods. Lots of input, that had to be remembered, critical reflection and self-determination of learning contents and aims was rather rare.
I have to say that I work a lot with the internet. Most of my daily research (where to go tonight, which restaurant, which club, to which office do I have to go to get my passpart, which professor is specified on that topic, etc.) is research in the internet. Most of the time, I try to find out about things that affect and effect me personally, are things that I’m really interested in. I have the possibility to do this research whenever and whereever I like to. I think that this is what a constructivist approach to learning is aimed to: that you become a critical, independent and self-determined learner. I have the impression, that the internet with his mass of resources really helpes me to become this kind of learner.
