Learning theories in daily life
February 2, 2009
I should spend one day thinking about learning theories. How I use them in daily life, e.g. how the influence my learning and my day.
Actually I have to say, that when I remember my school time y, I mostly got confronted with more or less behaviouristic teaching methods. Lots of input, that had to be remembered, critical reflection and self-determination of learning contents and aims was rather rare.
I have to say that I work a lot with the internet. Most of my daily research (where to go tonight, which restaurant, which club, to which office do I have to go to get my passpart, which professor is specified on that topic, etc.) is research in the internet. Most of the time, I try to find out about things that affect and effect me personally, are things that I’m really interested in. I have the possibility to do this research whenever and whereever I like to. I think that this is what a constructivist approach to learning is aimed to: that you become a critical, independent and self-determined learner. I have the impression, that the internet with his mass of resources really helpes me to become this kind of learner.
Online-Session
February 2, 2009
Our last session was a very new experience for me, because it was the first online seminar I’ve ever took part in. I was really curious how to manage to bring so many people online together and hold a seminar.
In the beginning, we had some problems to manage that everybody could see and hear the instructors and referees. It was a little bit exhausting to keep in the skype conference, sometimes I got kicked out and had to wait untill I was called again and could join the seminar again. That was a little bit frustrating.
Additionally I found, that it was exhausting to follow the presentations over the whole time of almost two hours without seeing the person, that is speaking.
What I really liked was the discussion in the skype chat, while the presentation was on. It was quite interesting to discuss everything immediately and direct.
All in all it was a very interesting and important experience to me.
What is PLE?

What is PLE?
PLE means Personal Learning Environment
A design of a PLE should be based on the following characteristics:
1. It should be learner centered
2. It should provide the environment for a life-long learning: So when the learner grows up, it should grow up, too
3. A PLE should be designed very individually according the needs of the learner
4. Therefore it should be location-independent, so that the learner can use his personal PLE from every place in the world
Definitions:
According to W. Neuhaus (FU Berlin) definition of PLE we can understand PLE as a very personal infrastructure, which I can use to organize my learning. It might be divided in two dimensions:
The personal dimension: personal surrounding my concrete, my friends, my colleagues, my working place, the library I use to work in, etc.
And the virtuell dimension, which gives access to communication tools and searching machines and multimedia-based information.

Defining Elearning the 2nd
November 3, 2008
After discussing the positve and negative sides of Elearning, our 2nd task is now to find a few definitions of Elearning.
Beside the one taken from wikipedia, which I posted last week, I found another definition on a British Elearning-webside:
e-Learning can be defined as ‘learning facilitated and supported through the use of information and communications technology’. It can cover a spectrum of activities from the use of technology to support learning as part of a ‘blended’ approach (a combination of traditional and e-learning approaches), to learning that is delivered entirely online. Whatever the technology, however, learning is the vital element.

E-Learning

E-Learning:
(Synonyme für E-Learning sind u.a.: Online-Lernen, Telelernen, Computer Based Training, multimediales Lernen, Open and Distance Learning, computerunterstütztes Lernen)
